June 28th
This morning we had a walk inland from Reculver and saw 3 Mallard, 4 Shoveler, 5 Tufted Duck, 2 Little Grebes, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Grey Partridge, 10 Coot, 1 Swift, 3 Turtle Doves, 6 Sand Martins, 8 Reed Warblers, 1 Sedge Warbler, 3 Whitethroats, 2 Blackcaps, 2 Chiffchaffs and 6 Goldfinches. We also found 1 Black-tailed Skimmer.

June 25th
A brief visit to Reculver this afternoon produced 1 Mute Swan, 4 Tufted Duck, 14 Coot, 2 Grey Partridges, 2 Whitethroats and 1 Blackcap.

June 24th
Matt spent the morning ringing at Shuart where he recorded 1 Kestrel, 1 Cuckoo, 1 Turtle Dove, 2 Swifts, 1 Green Woodpecker, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 10 Whitethroats, 5 Blackcaps and 3 Chiffchaffs. He also found a Broad-bodied Chaser.

June 23rd
This morning Matt walked from Chamber's Wall to Coldharbour and then visited Reculver. He recorded 10 Mallard, 1 female and 9 ducklings, 6 Tufted Duck, 4 Little Grebes, 1 Grey Heron, 3 Oystercatchers, 1 Redshank, 1 Common Tern, 2 Turtle Doves, 1 Green Woodpecker, 1 Yellow Wagtail, 1 Lesser Whitethroat and 7 Whitethroats. Dragonflies he saw included 1 Black-tailed Skimmer, a few Blue-tailed Damselflies and 20 Red-eyed Damselflies.

A quick walk this morning inland from Reculver produced 4 Tufted Duck, 2 Little Grebes, 2 Turtle Doves, 20 Swifts, 6 Long-tailed Tits and 5 Whitethroats.

There had been a change in the weather this morning with overcast conditions and cool NE breeze blowing as we walked along the seawall at Reculver and then inland and saw 3 Shelduck, 20 Mallard, 6 Tufted Duck, 5 Little Grebes, 2 Cormorants, 4 Little Egrets, 1 Kestrel, 11 Coot, 8 Oystercatchers, 4 Ringed Plovers, 2 Redshank, 1 Little Owl, 2 Green Woodpeckers, 10 Sand Martins, 4 Pied Wagtails, 10 Meadow Pipits, 2 Whitethroats, 1 Blackcap, 1 Chiffchaff, 5 Goldfinches and 2 Linnets.

June 13th
On another sunny and warm morning we walked from Chamber's Wall to Coldharbour and recorded 9 Mute Swans, 11 Shelduck, 2 adults and 9 recently hatched ducklings, 5 Mallard, 1 Tufted Duck, 1 Cormornat, 1 Lapwing, 2 Ringed Plovers, 2 Redshank, 2 Common Terns, 1 Cuckoo,  4 Skylarks, 6 Sand Martins, 2 Yellow Wagtails, 11 Reed Warblers, 5 Sedge Warblers, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 6 Whitethroats, 1 Blackcap, 1 Chiffchaff, 3 Chaffinches and 15 Linnets feeding on salsify seeds.

June 12th
On another beautiful but very quiet morning we walked along the seawall from Reculver. Birds we saw included 6 Mute Swans, 3 Mallard, 2 Tufted Duck, 5 Cormorants, 1 Little Egret, 6 Oystercatchers, 4 Ringed Plovers, 6 Redshank, 1 Curlew, 4 Pied Wagtails, 4 Meadow Pipits, 1 Goldfinch and 6 Linnets.

June 11th
As we walked along the seawall at 0825 we received a call from Geoff Burton to say he had just had 3 Spoonbills flying E at Swalecliffe and that they were flying high and coming our way. They took 15 minutes to arrive and continued flying towards Thanet just offshore and still at quite a height. Other birds we saw included 1 Shelduck, 2 Tufted Duck, 2 Little Egrets, 4 Cormorants, 4 Oystercatchers, 2 pairs of Ringed Plovers having a territorial dispute, 2 Turnstone, 4 Redshank, 1 Little Owl, 4 Pied Wagtails and 2 Linnets.

Terry Wilson walked along the railway embankment to Coldharbour and saw 8 Mute Swans, 2 Marsh Harriers, 20 Oystercatchers, 2 Cuckoos and 8 Swallows. He also saw good numbers of Small Tortoiseshell butterflies and 2 Hares.

We spent a pleasant morning ringing at Shuart where we saw 2 Mallard, 1 Grey Heron, 2 Marsh Harriers, 1 Hobby, 2 Kestrels, 11 Lapwings, 1 Turtle Dove, 3 Ring-necked Parakeets, 2 Green Woodpeckers, 1 Cuckoo, 1 Jay, 12 Long-tailed Tits, 2 Mistle Thrushes, 1 Cetti's Warbler, 6 Reed Warblers, 2 Sedge Warblers, 12 Whitethroats, 12 Blackcaps and 1 Chiffchaff.

We spent an overcast morning ringing at Reculver where we caught and ringed good numbers of juvenile birds. Birds we saw included 2 Mute Swans, 1 Shelduck, 2 Mallard, 8 Tufted Duck, 4 Little Grebes, 1 Cormorant, 1 Hobby, 1 Kestrel, 1 Turtle Dove, 1 Barn Owl, 1 Kingfisher, 2 Green Woodpeckers, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 4 Swifts, 16 Sand Martins, 1 Yellow Wagtail, 2 Jays, 15 Long-tailed Tits, 12 Reed Warblers, 4 Sedge Warblers, 6 Whitethroats, 10 Blackcaps and 4 Chiffchaffs.

June 8th
On a very warm morning we walked from Shuart to the railway embankment to look for orchids.With not a lot of searching we found 4 Bee Orchids, 2 Spotted Orchids, 3 Pyramidal Orchids and 20+ Southern Marsh Orchids.

Birds we saw included 2 Marsh Harriers, 1 Kestrel, 2 Ring-necked Parakeets, 1 Cuckoo, 2 Green Woodpeckers, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 6 Reed Warblers, 6 Whitethroats, 5 Blackcaps and 2 Linnets.

We managed a walk from Chamber's Wall to Coldharbour in warm sunshine and got back to the car just before the promised showers arrived. It was relatively quiet this morning but we managed to see 4 Mute Swans, 5 Shelduck, 9 Mallard, 8 Cormorants, 5 Gannets E, 2 Little Egrets, 1 Marsh Harrier, 3 Oystercatchers, 2 Redshank, 1 Common Tern, 1 Cuckoo, 2 Skylarks, 1 Yellow Wagtail, 9 Reed Warblers, 4 Sedge Warblers, 11 Whitethroats, 2 Blackcaps, 1 Chiffchaff, 4 Chaffinches and 7 Linnets.

On a glorious morning we walked along the seawall from Reculver to Coldharbour and recorded 7 Shelduck, 16 Mallard, 9 Cormorants, 1 Fulmar E, 8 Little Egrets, 1 Kestrel, 10 Oystercatchers, 12 Ringed Plovers, 2 Redshank, 2 Common Terns, 2 Sandwich Terns E, 6 Swallows, 14 Sand Martins, 1 Pied Wagtail, 12 Meadow Pipits, 3 Yellow Wagtails, 3 Whitethroats and 8 Linnets.

We didn't manage to get out until after lunch today and then walked around Shuart. We saw 3 Red-legged Partridges, 1 Marsh Harrier, 1 Hobby, 1 Kestrel, 31 Swifts W, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 4 Whitethroats, 5 Blackcaps, 3 Chiffchaffs, 4 Chaffinches, 2 Linnets and 3 Hares.

We arrived at Chamber's Wall after an early morning shower and walked up to Coldharbour. We saw 1 Mute Swan, 1 Shelduck, 6 Mallard, 2 Tufted Duck, 4 Cormorants, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Red Kite W, 1 Common Buzzard, 6 Oystercatchers, 2 Redshank, 2 Common Terns, 14 Swifts, 5 Skylarks, 3 Yellow Wagtails, 7 Reed Warblers, 9 Whitethroats, 2 Blackcaps, 1 Chiffchaffs and 9 Linnets.

We had a very good morning's ringing at Shuart with the highlight being a migrant Marsh Warbler. Other birds we saw included 2 Tufted Duck, 2 Cormorants N, 1 Grey Heron, 7 Red Kites W, 2 Kestrels, 2 Turtle Doves, 3 Cuckoos, 6 Ring-necked Parakeets, 2 Green Woodpeckers, 4 Skylarks, 6 Mistle Thrushes, 23 Long-tailed Tits, 2 Cetti's Warblers, 3 Reed Warblers, 2 Sedge Warblers, 6 Whitethroats, 5 Blackcaps, 3 Chiffchaffs and 2 Linnets.

With limited time this morning we walked at Shuart and recorded 1 Kestrel, 2 Ring-necked Parakeets, 1 Cuckoo, 1 Green Woodpecker, 8 Skylarks singing, 1 Cetti's Warbler, 2 Reed Warblers, 5 Whitethroats, 7 Blackcaps, 5 Chiffchaffs, 4 Linnets and 1 Corn Bunting. Later Matt saw 6 Red Kites fly W and also 2 Turtle Doves.
