Matt walked inland at Reculver and counted 2 Blackcaps, 21 Tufted Duck, including 6 ducklings, 2 Shelduck, 2 Great Crested Grebes, 4 Grey Herons, 1 Kestrel, 3 Cetti's Warblers, 1 Common Buzzard, 1 Yellow Wagtail, 30 Sand Martins, 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Corn Buntings and 3 Norfolk Hawkers.

June 24th

Matt spent the morning ringing at Reculver where he saw 2 Green Sandpipers, 10 Tufted Duck, 2 Little Grebes, 14 Mallard, 1 Grey Heron, 2 Grey Partridges, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 1 Corn Bunting, 3 Common Terns, 12 Blackcaps, 4 Chiffchaffs, 5 Coot, 2 Great Crested Grebes, 1 Grey Wagtail, 2 Yellow Wagtails, 1 Green Woodpecker, 6 Whitethroats, 16 Reed Warblers, 1 Sedge Warbler, 2 Cetti's Warblers, 2 Shelduck, 1 Cuckoo and 6 Long-tailed Tits.

Birds ringed 56: Wren 6, Long-tailed Tit 1, Chiffchaff 2, Robin 3, Reed Warbler 7, Whitethroat 3, Cetti's Warbler 1, Blue Tit 14, Blackcap 4, Great Tit 8, Lesser Whitethroat 1, Dunnock 2, Song Thrush 2, Blackbird 2.

 June 22nd

As regular readers will have noticed have I have not been out for over the last two weeks as I've been in hospital. This morning I've added a few sightings made while I was away. Hopefully in the next month or two I'll finish my convalescence and get out birding again.

June 18th 

This morning Derek Smith had a Crossbill (161st) flying high W at Brooksend.

Matt walked inland at Reculver and birds seen included 2 Chiffchaffs, 1 Little Grebe, 8 Tufted Duck, 2 Great Crested Grebes, 1 Yellow Wagtail, 1 Kestrel, 1 Green Woodpecker, 4 Coot, 2 Teal, 1 Cetti's Warbler, 1 Jay, 7 Mallard, 1 Marsh Harrier, 2 Redshank, 2 Corn Buntings, 2 Sparrowhawks, 1 Common Tern and 2 Grey Partridges

June 17th

Matt walked from Reculver to Coldharbour and then inland at Reculver. Birds seen included 1 Chiffchaff, 6 Long tailed Tits, 3 Little Egrets, 4 Grey Herons, 1 Kestrel, 2 Great Crested Grebes, 1 Tufted Duck, 5 Coot, 2 Little Grebes, 2 Grey Partridges, 10 Sand Martins, 1 Corn Bunting, 1 Common Tern, 1 Green Sandpiper, 330 Herring Gulls, 1 Lesser Black backed Gull, 2 Yellow Wagtails, 1 male Marsh Harrier, 1 Fulmar, 2 Ravens, 5 Cetti's Warblers, 8 Common Scoter flying E, 1 Curlew, 1 Stonechat, 2 Shelduck, 1 Avocet, 1 Lapwing, 1 Common Buzzard and 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker.

Also seen was 1 Brown Argus, 50 Black tailed Skimmers and over 50 Pyramidal Orchids.

  June 11th

Matt walked inland at Reculver and birds seen included 2 Great Crested Grebes, 1 Little Grebe, 7 Tufted Duck, 2 Greylag Geese, 20 Lapwing, 1 Grey Heron, 2 Gadwall, 2 Grey Partridges, 3 Corn Buntings, 1 Jay, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker and 2 Cetti’sWarblers.

June 9th

Matt walked from Shuart along railway embankment to Coldharbour and back via Plumpudding. Birds seen included 4 Chiffchaffs, 1 Blackcap, 1 Ring necked Parakeet, 3 Yellow Wagtails, 8 Long tailed Tits, 11 Cetti's Warblers, 2 Greylag Geese, 2 Common Buzzards, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Common Swift, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 1 Lapwing, 10 Mediterranean Gulls, 5 Common Terns, 2 Stonechats, 1 Sandwich Tern,10 Little Egrets, 14 Mallard, 2 Avocets in Plumpudding lagoon, 4 Sand Martins and 2 adult Oystercatchers with 1 young. Also seen was 1 Speckled Wood, 14 Red Admirals, 2 Holly Blues, 2 Small Heath, 3 Common Blues, 2 Small Whites, 1 Hairy Dragonfly, 1 Four Spotted Chaser, 22 Pyramidal Orchids and 5 Southern Marsh Orchids. Later inland at Reculver he saw1 Common Buzzard, 1 Chiffchaff, 2 Blackcaps, 4 Tufted Duck, 2 Great Crested Grebes, 3 Greylag Geese, 1 Corn Bunting, 1 Common Tern and 1 Cuckoo.

 Derek Smith was also out this morning and found 12 Bee Orchids at Shuart.

Matt birded inland at Reculver and saw the following; 2 Great Crested Grebes, 4 Tufted Duck, 1 Gadwall, 1 Greylag Goose, 8 Lapwing, 1 Common Sandpiper, 1 Common Buzzard,1 Corn Bunting, 1 Common Tern, 1 Grey Heron, 2 Blackcaps, 1 Jay, 3 Chiffchaffs, 1 Cetti's Warbler and 1 Green Woodpecker. He also found 3 Black tailed Skimmers.

This morning was overcast, cool and breezy as we walked inland from Reculver. We recorded 25 Sand Martins, 4 Whitethroats, 2 Chiffchaffs, 4 Blackcaps, 1 Greylag Goose, 1 Common Sandpiper, 10 Mallard, 4 Tufted Duck, 2 Gadwall, 1 Oystercatcher, 5 Mute Swans, 3 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 2 Grey Partridges, 2 Linnet, 1 Kestrel, 3 Cetti's Warblers, 2 Great Crested Grebes, 1 Grey Heron, 6 Long-tailed Tits, 6 Coot and 2 Shelduck.

Our walk from Chamber's Wall to Coldharbour this morning produced 1 Common Buzzard, 4 Yellow Wagtals, 8 Whitethroats, 8 Linnets, 2 Skylarks, 2 Swallows, 9 Goldfinches, 6 Cetti's Warblers, 1 Blackcap, 1 Kestrel, 4 Mallard, 6 Oystercatchers, 1 Little Egret, 2 Common Terns, 1 Rock Pipit, 2 Coot, 1 Tufted Duck and 1 Chiffchaff.

With a chilly NE breeze still blowing we walked at Reculver this morning where we counted 3 Pied Wagtails, 2 Common Buzzards, 32 Sand Martins, 5 Blackcaps, 2 Chiffchaffs, 3 Whitethroats, 2 Gadwall, 5 Tufted Duck, 5 Mute Swans, 2 Linnets, 2 Cetti's Warblers, 2 Shelduck, 2 Great Crested Grebes, 2 Goldfinches, 5 Mallard, 8 Long-tailed Tits, 1 Green Woodpecker, 2 Coot and 1 Cuckoo.

On a bright and breezy morning we walked at Chamber's Wall and Shuart but saw very little. We counted 8 Linnets, 2 Yellow Wagtails, 7 Whitethroats, 3 Green Woodpeckers, 4 Cetti's Warblers, 9 Goldfinches, 4 Swallows, 8 Skylarks, 1 Marsh Harrier, 1 Cuckoo and 2 Blackcaps.

At least the sun was out this morning and it was a bit warmer as we walked from Chamber's Wall to Coldharbour but we did not see very much, just 1 Yellow Wagtail, 10 Linnets, 6 Whitethroats, 3 Cetti's Warblers, 2 Blackcaps, 1 Chiffchaff, 4 Goldfinches, 1 Rock Pipit, 2 Tufted Duck, 8 Long-tailed Tits, 1 Green Woodpecker and 1 Cuckoo.

This evening we walked inland at Reculver and saw 1 Jay, 1 Chiffchaff, 3 Blackcaps, 18 Sand Martins, 6 Tufted Duck, 3 Gadwall, 5 Mute Swans, 7 Mallard, 2 Oystercatchers, 2 Grey Partridges, 2 Teal, 1 Grey Heron and 2 Great Crested Grebes.

The unseasonable weather continued as we walked from Shuart to Plumpudding this morning and saw 2 Ring-necked Parakeet, 3 Blackcaps, 2 Green Woodpeckers, 9 Cetti's Warblers, 1 Common Buzzard, 10 Goldfinches, 2 Lapwings, 1 Red-legged Partridge, 3 Pied Wagtails, 1 Little Egret, 7 Linnets, 2 Oystercatchers, 5 Mallard, 4 Ringed Plovers, 1 Common Sandpiper, 1 Common Tern, 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 1 Whitethroat and 1 Merlin zipping across a ploughed field at Shuart Lane.

It felt more like November 1st than June 1st this morning with the cool and very fresh NNE wind still blowing. We walked from Chamber's Wall to Coldharbour and recorded 6 Cetti's Warblers, 5 Linnets, 1 Cuckoo, 6 Whitethroats, 1 Yellow Wagtail, 3 Goldfinches, 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Blackcap, 2 Oystercatchers, 1 Little Egret, 1 Rock Pipit, 1 Redshank, 1 Common Tern and 1 Marsh Harrier.
