November 27th

On a foul morning with rain, hail, sleet and even lightning and a strong and very cold northerly wind the three of us spent three hours seawatching at Reculver and were joined later by Richard Collins. Most birds were flying east and we counted totals of 51 Oystercatchers, 43 Gannets, 65 Dark-bellied Brent Geese, 1 Curlew, 5 large auks, 110 Kittiwakes, 13 Great Black-backed Gulls, 650 Cormorants off shore, 7 Red-throated Divers, 2 Guillemots, 1 Great Skua, 4 Common Scoter and 2 Redshank.

Derek Smith had a really dull seawatch at the Towers between 1330 and 1500. He had 2 male Goosanders flying W, 1 Dark-bellied Brent Goose and 6 Gannets flying W and that was all apart from the local gulls.
