 May 15th

On a dull and increasingly humid morning we walked from Reculver to Coldharbour and back. Birds we saw included 7 Cetti's Warbler, 3 Pied Wagtails, 12 Whitethroats, 5 Little Egrets, 4 Oystercatchers, 16 Mallard, 2 Cuckoos, 12 Linnets, 1 Stonechat, 2 Gadwall, 1 female Wheatear, 2 Ringed Plovers, 3 Turnstone, 3 Greylag Geese, 3 Avocets, 2 Yellow Wagtails, 2 Tufted Duck, 3 Sandwich Terns W, 2 Common Terns, 1 Swallow, 2 Sand Martins and 1 Grey Heron.


Female Stonechat

 Matt was also out this morning and walked from Shuart to Brooksend and on to Plumpudding. He recorded 5 Blackcaps, 40 Stock Doves, 4 Chiffchaff, 7 Ring-necked Parakeets, 2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers, 10 Grey Heron, 7 Little Egrets, 16 Long-tailed Tits, 4 Corn Buntings, 1 Greenfinch, 3 Common Buzzards, 21 Greylag Geese, 1 Canada Goose with 2 hybrids, 1 Barnacle Goose, 1 Little Grebe, 12 Tufted Duck, 6 Coot, 10 Mallard, 5 Marsh Harriers, 1 Cuckoo, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 2 immature Spoonbills W, 1 Stonechat, 1 House Martin, 4 Yellow Wagtails, 70 Sanderling, 1 Grey Plover, 1 Wheatear, 10 Swifts, 4 Whimbrel, 1 Common Sandpiper, 2 Common Terns and 1 Sparrowhawk.

Dave Smith walked from Shuart to Chamber's Wall and Coldharbour and recorded 3 Greylag Geese, 3 Shelduck, 20 Mallard, 7 Tufted Duck, 2 Grey Partridges, 1 Cuckoo, 12 Swifts W, 2 Avocets, 5 Oystercatchers, 1 Grey Plover, 2 Ringed Plovers, 6 Lapwings, 4 Whimbrel, 1 summer plumaged Bar-tailed Godwit, 2 Common Sandpiers, 11 Turnstone, 70 Sanderling, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 2 Common Terns, 2 Little Egrets, 2 Spoonbills W, 5 Marsh Harriers, 1 Hobby, 6 Swallows, 3 Sand Martins, 3 Lesser Whitethroats, 1 Stonechat and 1 Wheatear.
