We spent a sunny, autumn morning ringing on the Marsh south of the railway. Birds we saw included 13 Tree Sparrows, 1 Barn Owl, 30 Chaffinches, 2 Sparrowhawks, 3 Chiffchaffs, 8 Bramblings, 2 Yellowhammers, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 3 Greylag Geese, 2 Blackcaps, 4 Cetti's Warblers, 20 Song Thrushes, 6 Siskins, 4 Corn Buntings, 1 Swallow, 1 Marsh Harrier, 1 Common Buzzard, 1 Peregrine, 10 Goldfinches, 12 Skylarks, 2 Kestrels, 1 Firecrest and 1 Greenfinch.
Birds ringed 43: Chiffchaff 2, Wren 2, Tree Sparrow 5, Blue Tit 3, Blackcap 2, Chaffinch 5, Cetti's Warbler 2, Brambling 3, Robin 1, Reed Bunting 6, Dunnock 1, Song Thrush 5, Blackbird 6.

Dave Smith was out all morning and walked from Shuart to Plumpudding and then along the railway embankment. He recorded 14 Dark-bellied Brent Geese, 1 Shelduck, 11 Red-legged Partrdges, 3 Sandwich Terns, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Kingfisher, 1 Kestrel, 1 Merlin, 1 Peregrine, 6 Swallows, 16 Chiffchaffs, 1 Dartford Warbler at Plumpudding Stables (193rd), 2 Blackcaps, 9 Goldcrests, 5 Song Thrushes, 2 Stonechats, 3 Tree Sparrows, 390 Chaffinches W, 2 Greenfinches, 7 Lesser Redpolls W, 5 Siskins W and 1 Corn Bunting.
This afternoon Matt walked from Shuart to Plumpudding and saw 1 Coal Tit, 4 Chiffchaffs, 3 Stonechats, 2 Bearded Tits, 1 Black Redstart and 1 Firecrest.
