January 30th
On a sunny, frosty and still morning we walked along the seawall from Reculver to Coldharbour. Birds we saw included 1 Little Owl calling repeatedly from behind the café, 3 Redshank, 439 Dark-bellied Brent Geese, 42 Ringed Plovers, 6 Turnstone, 1 Goldfinch, 13 Sanderling, 1 Stonechat, 7 Mute Swans, 36 Mallard, 1 Corn Bunting, 19 Shelduck, 2 Red-throated Divers E, 3 Great Crested Grebes, 9 Oystercatchers, 55 Carrion Crows, 2 Ravens flying W, 6 Snow Buntings and 1 Pied Wagtail.
We met Bob Hinge on the seawall and he had seen a Short-eared Owl (105th) at Minnis Bay and this afternoon Bob Dean found a Black Redstart (106th) on the rocks near the Oyster Farm and he also saw a male Marsh Harrier..
