We spent a sunny morning ringing on the Marshes south of the railway where our highlight was catching a Redwing that seems to be good candidate for the Icelandic subspecies of Redwing, Turdus iliacus coburni. It was a large dark bird with a wing length of 128mm compared to the other Redwings we have caught so far this autumn which ranged from 116-123mm. It was paricularly dark on the crown and cheeks, had strong flank streaks and very large and dark centres to its undertail coverts.
