Following yesterday's huge Swallow movement hirundines were moving in large numbers again today with mainly Swallows this morning and House Martins this afternoon.
At the peak of the movement there were 50 Swallows per minute moving W and this afternoon the House Martins were even more impressive with a maximum of 100 per minute passing over. My estimate for the day was at least 30,000 House Martins and 18,000 Swallows.
Other birds seen at Reculver included 1 Marsh Harrier, 2 Green Woodpeckers, 1 Sand Martin, 20 Meadow Pipits W, 300 Starlings W, 2 Reed Warblers and 6 Chiffchaffs.
