October 16th
With a strong northerly wind and showers forecast we were at the Towers early to see what was moving. In the event the answer was nothing! All we saw was a Peregrine so we decided to walk around Reculver bushes which were a bit more productive. We saw 69 Redwings, 7 Swallows, 2 Chiffchaffs, 40 Goldcrests, 23 Blackbirds, 1 Fieldfare, 2 Ring Ouzels, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker and 8 Robins.
Later at Chamber's Wall we recorded 76 Redwings, 50 Chaffinches, 5 Fieldfares, 15 Goldcrests, 2 Little Egrets, 32 Goldfinches, 7 Lesser Redpolls, 1 Cetti's Warbler, 4 Stonechats, 22 Mallard, 5 Redshank, 1 Peregrine, 1 Brambling and 1 Grey Heron.

Derek Smith moved on to Shuart where he found 70 Redwings, 2 Grey Wagtails W, 1 Tree Sparrow W, 6 Siskins W and 4 Chiffchaffs.
