February 24th
After this morning's rain we arrived at Reculver after lunch and walked up to Coldharbour. We counted 1,000+ Dark-bellied Brent Geese, 2 adult Black Brants, 4 Stonechats, 2 Short-eared Owls, 1 Corn Bunting, 4 Mallard, 1 Common Buzzard, 9 Goldfinches, 2 Coot, 1 Little Grebe, 140 Stock Doves, 2 Ringed Plovers, 1 Turnstone, 1 Grey Plover, 2 Redshank and 1 Curlew. On the walk back we were caught in a violent hail shower that ended with a loud clap of thunder.
Today I received information about a first year male Reed Bunting we ringed on the Marsh south of the railway on 30th November 2019 which had it's ring read at Stoke Park, Ipswich, Suffolk on the 18th and 20th February. Stoke Park is 75 km N of Reculver.
