July 29th

On a showery morning Matt walked from Reculver to Plumpudding and recorded a good range of species. He saw 29 Gannets, 48 Sandwich Terns, 2 Cetti's Warblers, 1 Little Owl, 182 Mediterranean Gulls, 285 Black-headed Gulls, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 1 Grey Heron, 2 Wood Sandpipers, 1 flying W and 1 in Coldharbour (164th), 4 Whitethroats, 9 Little Egrets, 6 Redshank, 3 Stonechats, 9 Common Sandpipers, 64 Whimbrel, 5 Sedge Warblers, 150 Starlings, 3 Swallows, 7 Yellow Wagtails, 49 Common Terns, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Teal, 2 Dunlin, 1 Little Ringed Plover, 17 Shelduck, 6 Avocets, 3 Turnstone, 4 Sanderling and 2 Common Scoter.

Derek Smith was out between 0530 and 0900 and walked from Shuart to Plumpudding and on to Coldharbour. He saw 7 Little Egrets, 27 Gannets, 7 Great Black-backed Gulls, 65 Mediterranean Gulls, 35 Common Terns, 40 Sandwich Terns, 7 Sanderling, 16 Turnstone, 57 Whimbrel, 1 Bar-tailed Godwit E, 1 Little Ringed Plover, 4 Dunlin, 8 Common Sandpipers, 1 Wood Sandpiper, 130 Swallows flying S, 6 Yellow Wagtails and 8 Cetti's Warblers.
