August 25th

After yesterday's washout, this morning was bright and sunny as we walked from Reculver to Coldharbour. We saw 19 Gannets, 17 Little Egrets, 4 Grey Herons, 12 Linnets, 8 Mallard, 13 Oystercatchers, 4 Sandwich Terns, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 7 Redshank, 1 Whimbrel, 3 Common Sandpipers, 1 Yellow Wagtail, 1 Cetti's Warbler, 1 Reed Warbler, 1 Water Rail calling, 2 Stonechats, 6 Goldfinches and 1 Kingfisher.

Dave Smith was also out early and walked from Shuart to Plumpudding and Coldharbour. He recorded 3 Greylag Geese, 2 Mute Swans, 15 Mallard, 1 Tufted Duck, 1 Swift, 3 Coot, 1 Avocet, 15 Oystercatchers, 20 Ringed Plovers, 1 Common Sandpiper, 10 Redshank, 30 Turnstone, 2 Dunlin, 1 Yellow-legged Gull, 7 Sandwich Terns, 13 Gannets, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Common Buzzard, 2 Kestrels, 25 Swallows, 5 Willow Warblers, 7 Chiffchaffs, 2 Blackcaps, 4 Lesser Whitethroats, 8 Whitethroats and 2 Yellow Wagtails.

Matt was out later and walked inland at Reculver where he saw 5 Common Sandpipers, 1 Redshank, 42 Coot, 8 Little Grebes, 4 Tufted Duck, 2 Willow Warblers, 2 Common Buzzards, 25 Mallard, 1 Gadwall, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Great Crested Grebe and 2 Sand Martins.
