November 7th   -  200th species for 2017
This morning we had a ringing session at Shuart where the first bird we caught was a Common or Mealy Redpoll (200th) which has not been a common species at Reculver.

On an interesting morning we also saw 2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers, 1 Kestrel, 4 Ring-necked Parakeets, 23 Lapwings W, 3 Hawfinches W, 12 Bramblings W, 9 Siskins W, 2 Mistle Thrushes, 14 Goldcrests, 10 Song Thrushes, 41 Fieldfares W, 56 Redwings W, 4 Bullfinches, 19 Redpolls W, 1 Firecrest, 171 Starlings W, 24 Skylarks W, 1 Grey Heron, 149 Chaffinches W, 2 Marsh Harriers, 1 Coal Tit, 3 Common Buzzards, 1 Blackcap and 25 Blackbirds.

Birds ringed 30: Goldcrest 9, Firecrest 1, Wren 2, Bullfinch 2, Common Redpoll 1, Robin 2, Great Tit 1, Chaffinch 1, Blackcap 1, Dunnock 4, Redwing 1, Blackbird 5.

Chris Roome found a male Mandarin (201st) on the sea at Reculver.
