December 24th
We fancied a change of scenery this morning as the last few days at Reculver have been rather predictable so we spent the morning at Stodmarsh.
Whilst we were there, Marc Heath visited the Marshes starting early at Shuart where he found 1 Woodcock, 2 Common Buzzards, 1 Red-legged Partidge and 1 Merlin on his drive to Reculver.
He than walked along the seawall to Coldharbour and returned along the railway embankment between 0745 and 1020. He counted 1 Kestrel, 10 Meadow Pipits, 5 Red-throated Divers E, 273 Dark-bellied Brent Geese, 18 Redshank, 14 Mute Swans, 41 Turnstone, 14 Corn Buntings, 2 Marsh Harriers, 25 Reed Buntings, 63 Ringed Plovers, 15 Dunlin, 35 Sanderling, 11 Oystercatchers, 6 Shelduck, 15 Mallard, 3 Curlew, 4 Stonechats, 80 Golden Plovers, 2 Chiffchaffs, 1 Little Egret, 3 Cetti's Warblers, 2 Coot, 6 Song Thrushes, 3 Skylarks, 18 Yellowhammers, 10 Chaffinches, 3 Tree Sparrows and 60 House Sparrows.
