On a bright and increasingly breezy morning we ringed on the Marsh south of the railway. There was a westerly movement of Siskins and hirundines on a broad front throughout the morning and we counted 325 Siskins, 310 House Martins and 166 Swallows. Other birds we saw included 1 Lesser Redpoll, 16 Chiffchaffs, 2 Willow Warblers, 6 Blackcaps, 4 Reed Warblers, 1 Grey Partridge, 2 Cetti's Warblers, 20 Linnets, 1 Snipe flying W, 38 Mallard, 3 Kestrels, 1 Whitethroat, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 2 Common Buzzards and 1 Sparrowhawk.
Birds ringed 33: Willow Warbler 2, Chiffchaff 7, Great Tit 1, Linnet 3, Reed Warbler 3, Reed Bunting 3, Robin 3, Blackcap 4, Cetti's Warbler 1, Chaffinch 1, Whitethroat 1, Lesser Whitethroat 1, Blue Tit 1, Siskin 1, Dunnock 1.
