December 11th

On a wet morning as we drove down to Minnis Bay a ring-tailed Hen Harrier flew across the dual carriageway near Brooksend. We then spent an hour at Minnis Bay and counted 9 Great Crested Grebes, 17 Common Scoter, 12 Gannets, 22 Red-throated Divers, 11 Sanderling, 177 Dark-bellied Brent Geese, 1 Slavonian Grebe flying E close in shore, 1 Kittiwake and 2 large auks.

After this, as the rain cleared, we visited a very wet and muddy Shuart where we saw 2 Goldcrests, 1 Green Woodpecker, 220 Russian White-fronted Geese, 2 Barnacle Geese, 32 Blackbirds, 100 Dark-bellied Brent Geese, 1 Greenfinch, 24 Redwings, 1 Fieldfare and 1 Grey Heron.
