January 6th

Matt arrived at Reculver at 0615 and then, as it began to get light, walked up to Plumpudding and back to Reculver. We arrived later and met him on the seawall at Coldharbour. Between us we saw 2 Woodcocks, 8 Redwings, 2 Water Rails, 5 Cetti's Warblers, 5 Common Buzzards, 1 Green Sandpiper, 133 Golden Plovers, 42 Corn Buntings, 62 Chaffinches, 7 Tree Sparrows (106th), 1 Brambling (107th), 1 Sparrowhawk, 64 Stock Doves, 23 Fieldfares (108th), 14 Coot, 29 Song Thrushes, 39 Blackbirds, 21 Lapwings, 1 Lapland Bunting calling as it flew NW over the embankment (109th), 2 Green Woodpeckers, 5 Russian White-fronted Geese, 5 Stonechats, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Red-throated Diver, 1 Dartford Warbler, 600 Dark-bellied Brent Geese, 16 Redshank, 2 Grey Plovers, 22 Mallard, 36 Ringed Plovers, 1 adult Black Brant, 6 Shelduck, 2 Little Grebes and 1 Pale-bellied Brent Goose.

This afternoon we spent some time at Minnis Bay and counted 57 Great Crested Grebes, 4 Common Scoter E (110th), 5 Red-throated Divers, 1 Gannet E, 1 Dunlin, 7 Dark-bellied Brent Geese and 1 Guillemot.
