September 13th

With a light, cool, NE breeze blowing in off the sea and low tide we walked from Chamber's Wall to Coldharbour where we met Dave Smith as he returned to Chamber's Wall. Birds we saw included 16 Chiffchaffs, 1 Spotted Flycatcher, 2 Green Woodpeckers, 6 Cetti's Warblers, 2 Robins, 21 Linnets, 8 Chaffinches, 1 Turtle Dove, 5 Swallows, 8 Blue Tits, 1 Marsh Harrier, 34 Mallard, 1 Green Sandpiper, 6 Oystercatchers, 2 Little Egrets, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 11 Coot, 6 Goldfinches, 1 Blackcap, 1 Golden Plover, 1 Willow Warbler and 1 Water Rail.

Earlier, on the same walk, Dave saw 14 Mallard, 1 Turtle Dove, 16 Oystercatchers, 6 Redshank, 1 Sandwich Tern, 2 Grey Herons, 3 Little Egrets, 1 Marsh Harrier, 1 Common Buzzard, 1 Kingfisher, 1 Green Woodpecker, 3 Kestrels, 4 Reed Warblers, 8 Swallows, 1 Willow Warbler, 8 Chiffchaffs, 3 Blackcaps, 3 Whitethroats, 1 Spotted Flycatcher, 1 Meadow Pipit and 2 Chaffinches.

Richard Collins had a look at Reculver today and found a Wheatear on the rocks at the car park, 20 Dark-bellied Brent Geese flying E and several hundred Swallows moving W.
