October 7th

On another bright and breezy morning we walked along the seawall from Reculver to Coldharbour and back. We counted 4 Pied Wagtails. 1 Green Woodpecker, 51 Goldfinches, 10 Meadow Pipits, 1 Kingfisher, 6 Red-throated Divers feeding close inshore, 3 Redshank, 11 Reed Buntings, 1 Chiffchaff, 6 Stonechats, 14 Skylarks W, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Cetti's Warbler, 23 Ringed Plovers, 3 Turnstone, 2 Sanderling, 126 Chaffinches W, 17 Swallows W and 2 Kestrels. We also saw 2 Small Coppers and 3 Wall Browns as well as a mink running about on the sea wall at Reculver sluice.


Meadow Pipit

Dave Smith was also out this morning and walked from Minnis Bay and along the embankment to Coldharbour. He recorded 1 Dark-bellied Brent Goose, 1 Wigeon, 10 Red-legged Partridges, 2 Great Crested Grebes, 50 Lapwings, 1 Curlew, 24 Redshank, 2 Sandwich Terns, 1 Red-throated Diver, 3 Grey Herons, 2 Little Egrets, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Kestrel, 1 Merlin, 1 Reed Warbler, 13 Swallows W, 26 House Martins W, 15 Chiffchaffs, 1 Blackcap, 7 Stonechats, 1 Grey Wagtail, 370 Chaffinches flying W, lots of Goldfinches flying W, 9 Siskins W and 5 Corn Buntings.
