October 27th

We spent a sunny morning ringing on the Marsh south of the railway where we saw 30 Chaffinches, 4 Chiffchaffs, 1 Blackcap, 4 Tree Sparrows, 1 Barn Owl, 2 Yellowhammers, 1 Brambling, 60 Corn Buntings, 5 Redwing, 1 Kingfisher, 14 Long-tailed Tits, 1 Marsh Harrier, 67 Skylarks, 2 Kestrels, 8 Goldfinches, 5 Siskins, 15 Mute Swans, 2 Cetti's Warblers and 2 Stonechats.

Birds ringed 33: Chiffchaff 3, Long-tailed Tit 10, Wren 1, Reed Bunting 6, Chaffinch 3, Blackcap 1, Robin 2, Dunnock 1, Song Thrush 3, Blackbird 3.

Whilst we were ringing Dave Smith walked from Reculver to Plumpudding and back. He counted 4 Teal flying W, 1 Common Scoter, 35 Lapwings, 1 Bar-tailed Godwit, 3 Little Grebes, 4 Great Crested Grebes, 120 Gannets, 1 Marsh Harrier, 1 Common Buzzard, 17 Skylarks W, 1 Chiffchaff, 200 Starlings, 4 Stonechats, 2 Grey Wagtails, 1 Rock Pipit, 21 Chaffinches W and 2 Siskins W.
