On a sunny morning with the tide out we walked along the seawall from Reculver and counted 5 Redshank, 5 Little Egrets, 9 Stonechats, 2 Turnstone, 1 Wheatear, 3 Ravens flying W along the shore, 9 Cormorants, 2 Grey Herons, 7 Swallows W, 2 Dunlin, 1 Ringed Plover, 6 Mallard, 2 Great Black-backed Gulls, 6 Whitethroats, 1 Cetti's Warbler, 22 Golden Plover, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 1 Curlew, 1 Oystercatcher and 6 Goldfinches.
Derek Smith was out between 0600 and 1030 and walked from Shuart along the railway embankment and back via Coldharbour and Plumpudding. He counted 1 Little Egret, 2 Grey Herons, 3 Great Crested Grebes, 1 Marsh Harrier, 42 Turnstone, 4 Dunlin, 1 Knot, 1 Common Sandpiper, 185 Black-headed Gulls, 22 Sandwich Terns, 2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers, 135 Swallows W, 15 House Martins W, 1 Yellow Wagtail W, 1 Grey Wagtail W, 1 Pied Flycatcher, 3 Ravens W, 25 Robins, 15 Cetti's Warblers, 3 Blackcaps, 29 Whitethroats, 3 Lesser Whitethroats, 9 Reed Warblers, 4 Sedge Warblers and 8 Chiffchaffs.
