October 3rd

We spent the morning ringing at Shuart where we saw 24 Redwings, 25 Song Thrushes, 2 Blackcaps, 10 Chiffchaffs, 10 Ring-necked Parakeets, 2 Kestrels, 2 Siskins, 2 Bramblings, 10 Skylarks, 6 Goldcrests, 20 Robins, 1 Grey Heron, 6 Swallows, 2 Common Buzzards, 1 Garden Warbler, 8 Long-tailed Tits, 3 Jays, 4 Cetti's Warbler, 1 Little Egret, 2 Green Woodpeckers, 15 Chaffinches, 250 Starlings, 1 Yellow-browed Warbler in the paddock and 1 Sparrowhawk.

Birds ringed 23: Goldcrest 3, Chiffchaff 4, Siskin 2, Blackbird 2, Robin 6, Chaffinch 1, Garden Warbler 1, Dunnock 1, Song Thrush 2, Blackbird 1.

 Dave Smith was also out this morning and walked from Shuart to Plumpudding and back. He counted 37 Dark-bellied Brent Geese, 11 Mute Swans, 1 Gadwall, 4 Grey Partridges, 12 Red-legged Partridges, 3 Little Grebes, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 30 Ringed Plovers, 18 Lapwings, 3 Redshank, 35 Turnstone, 80 Sanderling, 1 Dunlin, 1 Purple Sandpiper, 11 Little Gulls E, 1 Mediterranean Gull E, 5 Common Gulls, 19 Sandwich Terns E, 1 Little Egret, 2 Grey Herons, 1 Marsh Harrier, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Common Buzzard, 1 Kingfisher, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 4 Kestrels, 2 Jays, 1 Coal Tit (191st), 3 Swallows, 1 Yellow-browed Warbler in the paddock, 22 Chiffchaffs, 9 Long-tailed Tits, 2 Blackcaps, 5 Goldcrests, 1 Firecrest, 2 Redwings, 1 Spotted Flycatcher, 6 Stonechats, 2 Wheatears, 1 Grey Wagtail, 2 Brambling, 1 Greenfinch and 19 Corn Buntings.
