We spent the morning and early afternoon ringing at Reculver. Birds we saw included 1 Barn Owl, 3 Redwings, 2 Green Sandpipers, 2 Grey Wagtails, 2 Grey Herons, 2 Greylag Geese, 5 Teal, 8 Shoveler, 5 Tufted Duck, 46 Gadwall, 30 Mallard, 11 Little Grebes, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 44 Coot, 4 Cetti's Warblers, 8 Goldcrests, 1 Sparrowhawk, 3 Green Woodpeckers, 2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers, 80 Chiffchaffs, 30 Blackcaps, 2 Yellowhammers, 20 Dunnocks, 1 Water Rail, 18 Song Thrushes, 3 Firecrests, 6 Skylarks, 30 Robins, 8 Siskins, 2 Corn Buntings, 2 Common Buzzards, 20 Chaffinches and 6 Swallows.

Birds ringed 112: Chiffchaff 53, Wren 1, Goldcrest 3, Blackcap 21, Robin 8, Cetti's Warbler 2, Reed Bunting 4, Chaffinch 1, Great Tit 1, Goldfinch 1, Dunnock 10, Yellowhammer 2, Song Thrush 4, Redwing 1.

Dave Smith walked from Shuart to Plumpudding and on to Reculver and then back. He recorded 2 Gadwall, 2 Wigeon, 3 Teal E, 9 Great Crested Grebes, 1 Grey Plover, 32 Golden Plover, 55 Lapwings, 1 Snipe, 4 Dunlin, 1 Purple Sandpiper, 3 Little Gulls, 6 Sandwich Terns, 1 Little Egret, 2 Grey Herons, 1 Marsh Harrier, 2 Sparrowhawks, 3 Common Buzzards, 2 Kingfishers, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 4 Kestrels, 6 Bearded Tits, 11 Swallows W, 2 Yellow-browed Warblers, 1 at Reculver and 1 at Shuart, 60 Chiffchaffs, 20 Blackcaps, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 6 Goldcrests, 1 Firecrest, 5 Song Thrushes, 4 Redwing, 6 Stonechats, 1 Wheatear, 1 Grey Wagtail W, 5 Rock Pipits, 5 Brambling, 2 Greenfinches, 4 Siskins and 42 Corn Buntings.

Derek Smith birded the eastern half of the area from Shuart to Brooksend and Plumpudding. He recorded 4 Grey Herons, 1 Little Egret, 2 Wigeon, 4 Sandwich Terns E, 2 Gadwall, 1 Sparrowhawk, 4 Common Buzzards, 1 Marsh Harrier, 1 Water Rail, 4 Ring-necked Parakeet, 56 Skylarks W, 1 Kingfisher, 6 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 32 Swallows S, 11 Stonechats, 45 Song Thrushes, 80 Chaffinches W, 1 Siskin, 5 Bramblings W, 12 Long-tailed Tits, 16 Cetti's Warblers, 125 Chiffchaffs, 1 Yellow-browed Warbler at Shuart, 17 Blackcaps, 1 Reed Warbler, 8 Goldcrests and 1 Firecrest.
