 July 11th

It was great to get out after nearly five weeks for a half hour walk at Reculver on a bright and breezy morning. I didn't see a great deal, just 7 Swifts flying W, 1 Blackcap, 11 Sand Martins, 4 Linnets, 1 Kestrel, 2 Great Black-backed Gulls and 4 Cormorants.

Matt was also out this morning and walked from Reculver to Plumpudding and back. He saw a good range of species including 1 Blackcap, 1 Kestrel, 2 Tufted Duck, 1 Common Sandpiper, 474  Mediterranean Gulls roosting on the beach, 2 Little Egrets, 170 Sand Martins feeding and moving W, 21 Mallard, 2 Grey Herons, 1 juvenile Wheatear, 2 Stonechats, 1 Common Buzzard, 12 Swifts, 5 Yellow Wagtails, 1 Avocet, 2 Shelduck with 14 young, 5 Redshank, 2 Whimbrel, 5 Curlew, 16 Common Terns, 9 Sandwich Terns, 1 Cetti's Warblers, 2 Bearded Tits, 1 Green Sandpiper and 1 Marsh Harrier. He also saw 1 Hummingbird Hawk Moth and 1 Norfolk Hawker.
