It was then disturbed by a dog walker and flew east to the Oyster Farm and was not seen again despite being searched for by a number of the Reculver locals. This is the fifteenth record of this species for the Reculver area. There was also a male Ring Ouzel on the grass.

I had limited time this morning so I was out early. It had rained heavily overnight but the clouds had moved south and this morning was sunny but with an increasingly strong and blustery wind that made it difficult to stand on the seawall. Birds I managed to see included 3 Linnets, 2 Redshank, 17 Meadow Pipits mainly flying W, 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 10 Mallard, 2 Oystercatchers, 2 Shelduck, 1 Cetti's Warblers, 5 Greylag Geese flying W, 2 Ringed Plovers, 1 Stonechat and 1 Egyptian Goose flying W (138th).

April 2nd

This morning Matt walked from Reculver to Chamber's Wall and back and I walked from Chamber's Wall to Coldharbour and back along the Green Wall. Between us we saw 1 Chiffchaff, 8 Mute Swans, 11 Chaffinches, 6 Wigeon E, 2 adult Mediterranean Gulls E, 1 Little Egret, 1 Sparrowhawk, 73 Corn Buntings, 42 Stock Doves, 2 Stonechats, 6 Mallard, 4 Oystercatchers, 6 Linnets, 1 Yellowhammer and 2 Kestrels. On his way home Matt dropped in to Upper Hale and heard our first Blackcap of the year singing (135th) and 13 Jays flying SE.

It appears that the last two days of storms has undone most of the recent work done by the Environment Agency to repair the shingle beach between Reculver and Minnis Bay.

April 1st

April has begun with freezing temperatures, snow showers and a gale force NE wind. I spent an hour at Reculver this morning but there was nothing to see except 2 Wigeon flying E and about 250 Herring Gulls and 12 Common Gulls flying W.
