September 6th
This morning we walked along the seawall from Reculver and saw 2 Mute Swans, 11 Cormorants, 1 Fulmar, 2 Grey Herons, 15 Little Egrets, 1 Grey Plover, 3 Common Sandpipers, 4 Redshank, 5 Bar-tailed Godwits E, 2 Dunlin, 2 Sandwich Terns, 2 Kingfishers, 1 Yellow Wagtail, 1 Grey Wagtail, 7 Pied Wagtails, 17 Swallows, 3 Whinchats and 27 Linnets.
While we were doing this Matt covered the western half of the Marsh and counted 10 Reed Warblers, 10 Whitethroats, 5 Chiffchaffs, 9 Yellow Wagtails, 1 Curlew, 14 Robins, 2 Sedge Warblers, 15 Redshank, 43 Golden Plovers, 4 Oystercatchers, 4 Grey Wagtails, 24 Ringed Plovers, 1 Mediterranean Gull, 1 Grey Heron, 95 Linnets, 16 Little Egrets, 4 Common Sandpipers, 2 Kingfishers, 5 Wheatears, 36 Meadow Pipits, 2 Tree Pipits, 13 Whinchats, 2 House Martins, 17 Goldfinches, 2 Grasshopper Warblers, 4 Willow Warblers, 7 Blackcaps, 2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers, 2 Lesser Whitethroats, 1 Jay, 1 Firecrest, 50 Swallows, 2 Pied Flycatchers, 5 Bar-tailed Godwits, 4 Kestrels, 3 Teal, 1 Marsh Harrier, 1 Hobby and 1 Corn Bunting.
Derek Smith was also birding the eastern half of the Marsh for 6 hours and recorded 4 Common Buzzards, 6 Kestrels, 1 Barn Owl, 34 Lapwings, 7 Yellow Wagtails, 5 Grey Wagtails, 4 Spotted Flycatchers, 3 Wheatears, 4 Whinchats, 45 Meadow Pipits W, 1 Cetti's Warbler, 15 Reed Warblers, 18 Sedge Warblers, 11 Whitethroats, 16 Blackcaps, 21 Willow Warblers, 6 Chiffchaffs and 2 Firecrests.
