July 1st
The month began overcast and blustery as we walked along the seawall from Reculver to Coldharbour. We saw 10 Shelduck, including 2 adults and 7 small ducklings that had nested in the cliffs at Bishopstone, 2 juvenile Black Redstarts on the rocks below the Towers, 6 Pied Wagtails, 5 Sandwich Terns, 4 Whitethroats, 6 Cormorants, 3 Oystercatchers, 3 Little Egrets, 15 Swifts W, 30 Sand Martins, 2 Linnets, 4 Ringed Plovers, 2 Common Terns, 6 Yellow Wagtails, 1 Marsh Harrier and 4 Mallard.
