March 23rd
I began the morning by spending an hour at the Towers to see if anything was moving in the fresh ENE wind. Ornithologically it was extremely quiet with only 8 Gannets flying E, but the highlight was 2 Harbour Porpoises swimming E out of the Swale. The Black Redstart was also on the concrete below the Towers.
After this we drove out to Chambers' Wall and walked along the railway embankment and recorded 15 Yellowhammers, 14 Chaffinches, 2 Chiffchaffs, 2 Cetti's Warblers, 31 Corn Buntings, 2 Lapwings, 2 Mallard, 2 Mute Swans, 1 Goldfinch, 2 Shelduck and 2 Kestrels.
