December 28th
It was overcast this morning as we walked along the seawall from Reculver to Coldharbour and recorded 103 Dark-bellied Brent Geese, 12 Cormorants, 11 Mute Swans, 3 Wigeon W, 10 Redshank, 19 Ringed Plovers, 4 Turnstone, 3 Sanderling, 2 Grey Plovers, 56 Corn Buntings, 1 Great Northern Diver diving offshore, 1 Stonechat, 14 Mallard, 54 Carrion Crows, 1 Curlew, 14 Meadow Pipits and 1 Grey Heron. Marc Heath did the same walk about ten minutes ahead of us but walked inland as well and in addition saw 2 Snow Buntings flying high W, 1 Yellowhammer, 70 Redwings and 50 Fieldfares.
This afternoon we had a walk at Grenham Bay where we saw 26 Dark-bellied Brent Geese, 8 Curlew, 5 Little Egrets, 1 Grey Heron, 103 Oystercatchers, 4 Redshank, 26 Grey Plovers and 8 Ringed Plovers. We then continued on to Epple Bay, which is not in the Reculver recording area, and found 3 pairs of prospecting Fulmars as well as a Great Northen Diver 50 metres offshore feeding in the rock pools.
