November 20th

It was very dull and drizzly and the tide was out when we started our walk from Reculver to Coldharbour but it had brightened up a bit by the time we were walking back. We saw 105 Dark-bellied Brent Geese, 2 Stonechats, 18 Turnstone, 21 Redshank, 4 Ringed Plovers, 6 Oystercatchers, 10 Mallard, 1 Kestrel, 1 Golden Plover, 6 Shelduck, 3 Pied Wagtails, 2 Curlew, 2 Red-throated Divers, 2 Little Egrets, 1 Rock Pipit, 1 Snow Bunting and 1 Grey Plover. We also met Alex Perry who had seen the Dartford Warbler.

This morning Derek Smith walked from Shuart and along the embankment to Chamber's Wall and back via Plumpudding. In four and a half hours he counted 7 Great Crested Grebes, 1 Little Grebe, 14 Gannets E, 8 Grey Herons, 5 Shelduck, 2 Wigeon, 1 Merlin, 69 Turnstone, 53 Redshank, 70 Ringed Plovers, 17 Curlew, 400 Starlings W, 230 Blackbirds along the hedges, 45 Redwings, 8 Fieldfares, 6 Stonechats, 5 Bearded Tits at Coldharbour, 40 Chaffinches W, 6 Cetti's Warblers and 2 Corn Buntings.
