August 16th

Following overnight rain Matt walked from Reculver to Plumpudding and back along the embankment. His highlights included 7 Yellow Wagtails, 3 Common Sandpipers, 12 Mediterranean Gulls, 9 Ringed Plovers, 5 Redshank, 4 Avocets, 8 Little Egrets, 2 Grey Herons, 10 Whimbrel, 30 Oystercatchers, 3 Sanderling, 10 Turnstone, 4 Sandwich Terns, 1 Sparrowhawk, 6 Whitethroats, 1 Willow Warbler and 1 Wheatear.

This afternoon we walked from Chamber's Wall to Coldharbour where we sat on the beach for a couple of hours. We saw 3 Common Buzzards, 20 Swallows, 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Redshank, 4 Avocets, 4 Little Egrets, 6 Oystercatchers, 2 Arctic Skuas harrying gulls out by the wind farm (173rd), 3 Common Sandpipers and 4 Mediterranean Gulls. We also saw what looked very much like a Brown Booby flying E out past the Comorant pole but with only binoculars were unable to be absolutely sure.
