With a fresh to strong ENE wind blowing Matt, Dave Smith and I had a seawatch at Reculver from 0600 to 1100. Birds we saw included 40 Common Scoter E, 159 Sandwich Terns E, 3 Shoveler, 11 Black Tern E (175th), 1 Whimbrel, 2 Curlew, 5 Ringed Plovers, 1 Teal, 8 Gannets, 13 Arctic Skuas, 1 Bar-tailed Godwit W, 2 Grey Plovers E, 4 Great Skuas, 1 Dunlin, 1 Guillemot E, 2 adult Pomarine Skuas W (176th), 1 Little Egret and 1 Great Crested Grebe.

It was bright and breezy again this morning as we walked from Reculver to Coldharbour and back. We counted 11 Little Egrets, 55 Linnets, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Kestrel, 8 Sandwich Terns, 4 Redshank, 48 Mallard, 7 Ringed Plovers, 9 Swallows, 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 4 Oystetcatchers, 1 juvenile Avocet, 4 Whimbrel flying W, 2 Whinchats, 3 Stonechats, 1 Yellow Wagtail, 4 Great Black-backed Gulls and 1 Gannet E.

On a breezy but increasingly warm morning we had a ringing session at Reculver. Birds we saw included 1 Wheatear, 53 Coot, 48 Mallard, 11 Little Grebes, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 6 Common Sandpipers, 1 Snipe, 4 Redshank, 1 Golden Plover, 1 Ringed Plover, 2 Tufted Duck, 1 Barn Owl, 10 Blackcaps, 6 Chiffchaffs, 25 Corn Buntings, 3 Willow Warblers, 1 Kestrel, 3 Great Spotted Woodpeckers, 3 Little Egrets, 2 Jays, 2 Green Woodpeckers, 3 Gadwall, 1 Common Buzzard, 17 Goldfinches, 6 Swallows, 2 Whitethroats, 1 Sparrowhawk and 1 Mediterranean Gull.

Birds ringed 22: Chiffchaff 2, Willow Warbler 1, Blackcap 8, Reed Warbler 4, Great Tit 1, Robin 2, Blue Tit 2, Dunnock 1, Blackbird 1.

This morning Derek Smith walked from Shuart to Brooksend and back to Coldharbour before walking along the railway emabankment. He counted 14 Little Grebes, 23 Greylag Geese, 2 Canada Geese with 3 hybrids, 1 Barnacle Goose, 12 Tufted Duck, 3 Grey Herons, 7 Little Egrets, 3 Sparrowhawks, 6 Common Buzzards, 1 male Marsh Harrier, 2 Kestrels, 40 Sanderling, 1 Avocet, 3 Ring-necked Parakeets, 5 Jays, 2 Grey Wagtails W, 2 Yellow Wagtails, 30 House Martins, 18 Swallows W, 5 Cetti's Warblers, 2 Whitethroats, 2 Blackcap and 3 Chiffchaffs.

After yesterday's washout, this morning was bright and sunny as we walked from Reculver to Coldharbour. We saw 19 Gannets, 17 Little Egrets, 4 Grey Herons, 12 Linnets, 8 Mallard, 13 Oystercatchers, 4 Sandwich Terns, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 7 Redshank, 1 Whimbrel, 3 Common Sandpipers, 1 Yellow Wagtail, 1 Cetti's Warbler, 1 Reed Warbler, 1 Water Rail calling, 2 Stonechats, 6 Goldfinches and 1 Kingfisher.

Dave Smith was also out early and walked from Shuart to Plumpudding and Coldharbour. He recorded 3 Greylag Geese, 2 Mute Swans, 15 Mallard, 1 Tufted Duck, 1 Swift, 3 Coot, 1 Avocet, 15 Oystercatchers, 20 Ringed Plovers, 1 Common Sandpiper, 10 Redshank, 30 Turnstone, 2 Dunlin, 1 Yellow-legged Gull, 7 Sandwich Terns, 13 Gannets, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Common Buzzard, 2 Kestrels, 25 Swallows, 5 Willow Warblers, 7 Chiffchaffs, 2 Blackcaps, 4 Lesser Whitethroats, 8 Whitethroats and 2 Yellow Wagtails.

This morning began breezy and overcast with drizzle as we walked from Reculver to Coldharbour but had brightened up a bit as we got back to the Towers. We saw 51 Swallows flying W in two groups, 8 Little Egrets, 3 Grey Herons, 8 Meadow Pipits, 13 Mallard, 7 Redshank, 2 Turnstone, 1 Knot, 2 Oystercatchers, 1 Cetti's Warbler, 1 juvenile Avocet, 7 Sandwich Terns, 3 Wheatears, 1 Common Sandpiper, 3 Great Black-backed Gulls, 1 Stonechat, 1 Green Woodpecker and 1 Willow Warbler.

Following overnight rain Matt walked from Reculver to Plumpudding and back along the embankment. His highlights included 7 Yellow Wagtails, 3 Common Sandpipers, 12 Mediterranean Gulls, 9 Ringed Plovers, 5 Redshank, 4 Avocets, 8 Little Egrets, 2 Grey Herons, 10 Whimbrel, 30 Oystercatchers, 3 Sanderling, 10 Turnstone, 4 Sandwich Terns, 1 Sparrowhawk, 6 Whitethroats, 1 Willow Warbler and 1 Wheatear.

This afternoon we walked from Chamber's Wall to Coldharbour where we sat on the beach for a couple of hours. We saw 3 Common Buzzards, 20 Swallows, 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Redshank, 4 Avocets, 4 Little Egrets, 6 Oystercatchers, 2 Arctic Skuas harrying gulls out by the wind farm (173rd), 3 Common Sandpipers and 4 Mediterranean Gulls. We also saw what looked very much like a Brown Booby flying E out past the Comorant pole but with only binoculars were unable to be absolutely sure.

We spent a bright and increasingly breezy morning having what turned out to be a quiet ringing session at Reculver. Birds we saw included 2 Common Sandpipers, 38 Coot, 8 Tufted Duck, 8 Little Grebes, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 32 Mallard, 21 Sand Martins, 2 Kestrels, 2 Common Buzzards, 20 Goldfinches, 2 Chiffchaffs, 2 Willow Warblers, 2 Green Woodpeckers, 2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers, 1 Green Sandpiper flying W, 1 Mediterreanean Gull, 10 Swallows, 1 Sparrowhawk and 1 Cetti's Warbler.

 Birds ringed 9: Willow Warbler 1, Chiffchaff 1, Reed Warbler 4, Cetti's Warbler 1, Dunnock 1, Song Thrush 1.

Derek Smith was also out this morning and between 0600 and 1000 walked from Shuart along the embankment to Chamber's Wall and back via Plumpudding. He counted 7 Little Egrets, 2 Marsh Harriers, 2 Sparrowhawks, 1 Kestrel, 1 juvenile Peregrine, 9 Whimbrel, 1 Curlew, 4 Avocets, 6 Redshank, 1 Green Sandpiper, 2 Yellow Wagtails, 8 Cetti's Warblers, 8 Blackcaps, 12 Reed Warblers, 2 Sedge Warblers, 1 Grasshopper Warbler south of the Shuart crossing (172nd), 17 Whitethroats, 1 Willow Warbler and 16 Chiffchaffs.

Although it was still hot this morning there was a pleasant and cool westerly breeze blowing as we walked from Reculver to Coldharbour. There were a few waders moving today and we managed to see ten species. On our walk we counted 1 Greenshank flying W, 1 Green Woodpecker, 21 Linnets, 4 Goldfinches, 25 Little Egrets, 3 Great Black-backed Gulls, 5 Stonechats, 1 Wheatear, 1 Whinchat, 3 Cetti's Warblers, 14 Oystercatchers, 2 Common Sandpipers, 5 Turnstone, 14 Ringed Plovers, 22 Whimbrel flying W, 2 Redshank, 2 Grey Herons, 3 Avocets, 3 Mallard, 1 Bar-tailed Godwit flying W with Whimbrel, 3 Black-tailed Godwits flying SW (171st) and 3 Mediterranean Gulls.

This morning we walked from Reculver to Coldharbour on yet another very warm and sunny morning. The tide was out and there was relatively little to seen, just 1 Willow Warbler, 3 Grey Herons, 15 Little Egrets, 2 Whitethroats, 6 Oystercatchers, 13 Meadow Pipits, 20 Linnets, 1 Wheatear, 1 Stonechat, 4 Redshank, 1 Cetti's Warbler, 2 Sedge Warblers, 1 juvenile Avocet, 1 Common Sandpiper and 12 Sand Martins. We also saw a Painted Lady butterfly on the Fleabane at Coldharbour.

It was cooler this morning but it was still relatively quiet birdwise. We counted 7 Swallows, 2 Cetti's Warblers, 11 Reed Warblers, 1 Common Buzzard, 11 Linnets, 2 Green Woodpeckers, 3 Whitethroats, 1 Willow Warbler, 2 Chiffchaffs, 2 Coot, 4 Avocets, 7 Oystercatchers, 4 Little Egrets, 2 Redshank, 2 Sandwich Terns, 5 Great Black-backed Gulls, 1 Kestrel, 2 Common Sandpipers, 2 Sedge Warblers, 8 Long-tailed Tits and 1 Lesser Whitethroat.

We walked around at Reculver this morning and recorded 3 Goldfinches, 1 Kestrel, 2 Wheatears, 10 Mediterranean Gulls resting on the beach, 5 Little Egrets, 1 Sedge Warbler, 1 Common Sandpiper, 4 juvenile Stonechats, 8 Linnets, 23 Mallard, 34 Coot, 1 Green Woodpecker, 8 Little Grebes, 1 Marsh Harrier, 11 Tufted Duck, 1 Green Sandpiper and 4 Sand Martins.

On a hot morning we had a look at the sea at Reculver before walking inland. Birds we saw included 1 Little Ringed Plover flying W and calling, 1 Oystercatcher, 3 Little Egrets, 3 Common Sandpipers, 1 Yellow Wagtail, 4 Green Woodpeckers, 1 Common Buzzard, 4 Sand Martins, 6 Grey Partridges, 26 Mallard, 2 Little Grebes, 25 Coot, 12 Tufted Ducks, 1 Lapwing, 1 Pied Wagtail, 1 Jay, 1 Reed Warbler, 1 Blackcap, 4 Chiffchaffs and 1 Golden Plover.

On a humid morning with a bit of drizzle in the air but the threatened thunderstorms passing along the Channel we walked from Reculver to Coldharbour. We saw 3 Pied Wagtails, 3 Sandwich Terns flying E, 9 Little Egrets, 9 Meadow Pipits, 2 Mallard, 6 Linnets, 7 Oystercatchers, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 1 Fulmar, 9 Avocets, 2 Sedge Warblers, 2 Coot, 3 Cetti's Warblers, 2 Redshank, 1 Grey Plover flying W, 4+ Bearded Tits "pinging" in the reeds, 6 Great Black-backed Gulls, 2 Turnstone, 1 female Marsh Harrier, 1 Dunlin, 1 adult Common Gull, 1 Common Sandpiper and 1 Yellow Wagtail.

Dave Smith was also out this morning and from 0600 walked from Shuart to Plumpudding and Coldharbour. His highlights included 5 Teal, 10 Avocets, 4 Oystercatchers, 3 Ringed Plovers, 1 Whimbrel, 2 Common Sandpipers, 1 Green Sandpiper, 2 Redshank, 11 Turnstone, 4 Sanderling, 9 Mediterranean Gulls, 2 Sandwich Terns, 1 Little Egret, 1 Marsh Harrier, 8 Swallows and 1 Willow Warbler.
